Andrew started his career in Sheffield at Jack Spencer Goldsmiths, before becoming the Senior Technical Jewellery instructor for the Silversmithing and jewellery College at Psalter Lane Sheffield.
He later went abroad and lived and worked In the Cayman Islands, making many prestigious jewellery collections in the Caribbean, North and South America.
He finally came back to the UK in 2000 and settled back in his home city of Sheffield where he opened two shops with his wife Creusa.
With an established handmade jewellery business, they now offer jewellery making courses to give something back to the community where Andrew’s career began.
My Handmade Jewellery is our successful brand of jewellery, made in the same Sheffield studio where we teach our jewellery courses.
Our range of jewellery is designed to show off the beautiful qualities of natural stones, particularly those sourced in the UK including Blue John and Whitby Jet.
Every piece of stone is unique with its own magical combination of colours, patterns and textures. As you will discover in some of our courses, choosing the right stone for a certain piece of jewellery is really important in jewellery making.
Hi, I'm Andrew and I run a family business with my wonderful wife Creusa, specialising in the design and manufacture of gemstone and precious metal jewellery at our Sheffield studio. It is a working studio where we manufacture for jewellery retailers across the UK. We also sell our jewellery online and have featured in John Lewis.
We offer jewellery making courses in the hope that the ancient tradition and craft of handmade jewellery and stone setting continues for many generations to come. We aim to make each course a fun experience, with plenty of one to one assistance and guidance as new skills are introduced to you.
For me, creating a beautiful piece of jewellery from raw materials by hand is a truly magical and rewarding experience. I love sharing my passion by helping others embark on a delightful journey into the world of jewellery making.
Whether you are brand new to jewellery making, or want to learn new techniques, we can help you at one of our courses. If you have any specific requirements we can offer individual sessions. Simply get in touch.Andrew Thomson
